Description of the event:
The event will bring together leading figures from civil society to present some of the analyses and proposals that have emerged from the Thematic Social Forum on Rio+20 (held in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on 24-29 January 2012). Various international thematic platforms and working groups established for the Thematic Social Forum will consolidate converging perspectives from civil society and social movements in preparation for the “People’s Summit” to be held in Rio de Janeiro on 15-23 June. The event will be an opportunity for Member States and other interested stakeholders to hear various alternative civil society perspectives on the Zero Draft outcome document.
